The people of Rewari are expected to witness a big gathering of eminent political faces from Haryana and Bihar on Wednesday when former Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav accompanied by family members and friends would visit the city to perform ‘lagan ceremony’ of his daughter Anushka with Chiranjeev Rao, son of Haryana Power Minister Capt Ajay Yadav.
Anushka is an interior designer while Rao is the president of Haryana Pradesh Youth Congress. The wedding will take place on April 24 in New Delhi. Sources revealed that apart from these two States, several politicians are expected to attend the function in which matrimonial alliance would take place between these two Yadav families, representing different political parties.
While Lalu Yadav leads the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and at present is no more a part of United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at Centre,  Captain Yadav is legislator of the Congress from Rewari and is one of the senior most leaders of the State.
Apart from Lalu, another top politician from Bihar, Janata Dal-United president Sharad Yadav has also fixed the marriage of his daughter with groom from a political family in Haryana. Sharad Yadav’s daughter Suhasini has been engaged to Rajkamal Yadav, son of Rao Kamalveer Singh, who heads the Janata Dal-United in Haryana. Sharad Yadav’s wife also hails from Kutubpur area of Rewari district.

REWARI (HARIYANA): A Delhi Police constable allegedly raped her neighbour's 20-year-old daughter in her house in Surehli village here, police said today. The girl was alone in her house when the incident happened last evening, they said.
Yash Pal intruded into his neighbour's house, dragged her daughter into the bathroom and allegedly raped her, police said.
The constable was absconding, they said adding a case of rape and criminal trespass had been registered against him.

CHANDIGARH: The sound of dhols is reverberating in 105 villages of Haryana, whose residents have been invited through this traditional method by state's power minister Captain Ajay Singh Yadav for the 'lagan' ceremony of his son Chiranjeev Rao, who is getting married to RJD supremo Lalu Prasad's daughter Dhannu alias Anushka on April 24.
The villages fall in his constituency Rewari of southern Haryana and residents have been invited to attend the 'lagan' at Rewari on April 18 ahead of the wedding.

A family source said, "As far as the groom's side is concerned lagan is the most important function to be attended by the friends and relatives. Over 10,000 guests are expected to attend the ceremony."
For barat, which will move from Captain's hometown Rewari to New Delhi in the afternoon on April 23, over 1,000 invitation cards have been distributed.
When asked about the marriage proposal, the family sources said, "Both families were keen on the marriage between Chiranjeev and Dhannu, both born in 1986, since long. When Dhannu's family formally approached, Chiranjeev's family happily accepted the proposal."
Speaking to the Times of India, Captain Yadav said, "It's a matter of pride for us to have matrimonial alliance with such a good family."
Chiranjeev is Yadav's only son. His daughter has already been married.
In Lalu's family, Dhannu is sixth among his seven daughters. Dhannu is an interior designer, while Chiranjeev is a law graduate.
Chiranjeev had joined politics at the age of 19. Currently, he is president of Haryana Youth Congress.

REWARI (HARYANA): Three policemen were suspended today on the charge of extorting money from truck drivers on Jaipur-Delhi highway.
On complaints filed by a group of drivers, ASI Santosh Kumar, Havaldar Arun Kumar and Head Constable Satyabir Singh were suspended for demanding money from them at the Jaisinghpur Kheda barrier on the highway, police said.

Rewari (Har), Apr 3 (PTI) Fed up with harassment by her in-laws over dowry, a woman allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance in the district, police said today. The incident took place in Mirpur village, and the woman, Rekha, died in the civil hospital here yesterday, they said. On a complaint lodged by the brother of the deceased, the Dharuhera police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against the husband, father-in-law and mother-in-law. According to the complainant, Rekha, who got married to Deepak in April, 2004, was persistently subjected to cruel treatment by her in-laws for dowry. When the situation became unbearable, she took the extreme step, he alleged.
Rewari, Mar 30 (PTI) Haryana Police have conducted a raid at a hotel and arrested its owner and three others for allegedly running a sex racket. On a tip-off, police raided a local hotel last night after sending a decoy customer and arrested its owner, Ramesh Kumar, a girl, who hails from Mahipalpur area of Delhi, and two others, police said. The accused have been remanded in judicial custody by a local court.

A 19-year-old married woman was allegedly raped by four youths on the pretext of helping her to sort out matrimonial differences with her husband in Rewari town.

The complainant was living in a rented accommodation in Rewari district for the last four months after her relations got strained with her husband over domestic issues.

She met a local youth, Ravinder Kumar, who developed intimacy with her and promised to help her to settle dispute with her husband. She alleged that Ravinder came on a motorcycle asking her to accompany him to meet her husband in Narnaul town.

Before leaving, Ravinder reportedly offered her some eatables which made her unconscious. Later, she was raped by four youths for three days who also warned her of dire consequences if she informed police or anyone, she said in complaint.

GURGAON: Former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad's daughter Anushka will marry Haryana power minister Ajay Singh Yadav's son Chiranjeev Rao in April. The ceremonies will be held in Rewari (Haryana) and in the national Capital.
"It's an arranged marriage. A former personal security officer of Laluji who is posted in Haryana came up with the match, and we all agreed to it," Ajay Singh said. Anushka is an interior designer, while Chiranjeev is the president of Haryana Pradesh Youth Congress.
Both Yadav leaders were in Gurgaon on Saturday to attend a cricket match between Haryana CM-XI and MPs-XI in memory of former Bhiwani MP Surender Singh. MPs-XI, captained bySashi Tharoor, won the 20-over tie.

ROHTAK: A 19-year-old married woman was allegedly raped by four youths on the pretext of helping her to sort out matrimonial differences with her husband in Rewari town. The accused reportedly took her to a room where she was raped by four accused on March 6.
The Rewari police have registered a case of gangrape against four persons on the complaint of the victim and started a hunt for the accused. The complainant was living in a rented accommodation in Rewari district for the last four months after her relations got strained with her husband over domestic issue.
She met a local youth, Ravinder Kumar, who developed intimacy with her and promised to help her to settle dispute with her husband. She alleged that Ravinder came on a motorcycle asking her to accompany him to meet her husband in Narnaul town.
Before leaving, Ravinder reportedly offered her some eatables which made her unconscious. Later, she was raped by four youths for three days who also warned her of dire consequences if she informed police or anyone, she said in complaint.
She finally lodged a complaint with the Narnaul police which shifted the case to the Rewari district.
SHO (City) Dhanpat Singh told mediapersons on Sunday that medical examination had confirmed that the girl was raped and police had registered a case against four persons, including Ravinder, Avinash, Govind and one another under Sections of 376 (G), 506 and 343 of IPC.

Man shoots daughter at Rewari

A 16-year-old girl in Haryana was killed and then hastily cremated on Monday night by her father, police said. Police suspect it to be a case of “honour killing”.

The class 10 student was shot dead at point blank range by her father, Ratan Pal, a retired BSF trooper, in Rewari Khera village of Bhiwani district. 

“We suspect that it could be a case of honour killing. We have registered a case of murder against the father and are investigating all angles,” said a police officer in Bhiwani.

New Delhi: Two persons have been held for the abduction and murder of an 18-year-old girl. She was abducted 72 hours earlier by four men in a car while on her way home along with three friends.
The girl was later found murdered at Karawara village in Rewari close to Gurgaon. Sources said Delhi Police arrested the duo following a tip-off and technical surveillance. The Rewari police said they were informed about the murder by Delhi Police and the body was recovered after interrogation of one of the accused on Monday.
The police said they have put around 40 phones on surveillance and were questioning local residents of the area.
"We have informed the victim's family and they will arrive on Tuesday to identify the body," said an officer.
The police said they were trying to contact the relatives of the girl and a few others whose phone calls she had received on Thursday in order to make headway in the case.
"All angles are being probed for an early breakthrough. Separate teams have been delegated different tasks," said R K Pandey, additional DCP (southwest).
The girl was kidnapped from near Hanuman Temple at Qutub Vihar chowk near Chhawla.
The miscreants allegedly dragged the girl inside a car when she came near the temple on Thursday. Her friends and a passerby, who tried to intervene, were beaten up by the abductors.

Jat stir: 1 killed in ‘police firing’

Hisar: A youth was killed allegedly in police firing on an unruly mob of Jat protesters near the railway track of Ramayan station on Tuesday afternoon. The victim has been identified as Sandeep (20), son of Jog Raj, a resident of Mayar. The bullet pierced through his stomach. The body was taken 

to the civil hospital, Hisar, by victim’s friend Manoj.
However, the police sources denied the charge, saying the protesters were carrying arms and Sandeep died of bullet fired by one of the protesters. ASP Rahul Sharma was seriously injured in the clash. There were rumours of another death in the clash, which could not be confirmed.
On Monday, the police had detained top leaders of the community, who had been agitating near the railway track. Angry over the incident, Jat leaders on Tuesday gathered at Ladwa village and decided to squat on the railway track and moved towards the railway track of Ramayan station. A big crowd from the surrounding villages also joined them.
The police force first used tear gas shells and water cannon to disperse the mob, but when the protesters started pelting stones the police resorted to lathicharge and fired shots in the air.
About two dozen people were injured from both sides due to stone throwing by Jats and lathi charge by the police. Some of the injured were sent to Hansi and Hisar civil hospitals and seriously injured have been referred to PGI, Rohtak. IG, deputy commissioner, SP and SDM have reached the spot.
The rail traffic remained suspended, except for one goods train that was sent from Hisar to Rewari after police chased away the protesters. Among the injured, three have been identified as Kuldip and Yashpal of Ladwa and Pawan of Dhanderi.
