Chandigarh, Feb 18 (PTI) The Haryana government today requested the Centre to allot non-functional weapons of the armed forces for a newly-constructed war museum at Rewari. In a letter to Defence Minister A K Antony, the state Finance Minister Ajay Singh Yadav requested for allotment of non-functional weapons of the armed forces for Rezangla War Museum and Memorial at Rewari so that these could be used for public display, a press release said here. Yadav said during the Chinese aggression in 1962, a battle was fought at Rezangla Ridge at a height of 16,000 feet in Ladakh region where 114 soldiers of Ahir Rifle Company of 13 Kumaon Regiment -- most of whom hailed from Rewari, Mahendergarh and Gurgaon -- killed about 1,300 enemies. He said to commemorate the sacrifice made by the soldiers from the area, Rezangla War Museum and Memorial -- inaugurated on November 18 last year by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, was constructed.
