Unhappy with the pace of investigation by Delhi police into the abduction-cum-murder of Srikant Singh, the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) on Monday issued a mandatory summon to the Delhi Police commissioner BK Gupta. In a letter on behalf of NCSC chairperson PL Punia,

The headless body of Singh, 27, son of a section officer in NCSC, was discovered on July 30 on a roadside in Asalwas village under Kasola police station of Haryana's Rewari district. He had gone missing on July 29 along with his Santro car. Police had last located him, with the help of his mobile phone, in Greater Noida.
Jagjeet Singh, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Punia, said the mandatory summon was sent after Gupta did not appear before the commission on Monday and instead sent Chayya Sharma, DCP (south).
"Our chairperson had to interfere since proper investigation was not being made into the case. The chairperson tried to personally contact the Delhi Police commissioner three-four times. However, the police commissioner showed no interest after which a summon was sent to him on Friday. He was asked to appear before the commission on Monday. But he did not turn up," said the OSD.
The OSD added that the commission will write to the ministry of home affairs to intervene, in case the police commissioner fails to appear.
DCP Sharma said she appeared to brief about the development made by them in the case. Sources said the police believe that Singh was murdered in Greater Noida and his body was dumped in Haryana. Police are yet to recover his car.
