REWARI: Haryana power minister Ajay Singh Yadav has written to the Centre about the sluggish pace of work being carried out by the NHAI for the widening and strengthening work on the Pink City Expressway (Delhi-Jaipur stretch on NH-8) and the Chandigarh Expressway (Rewari-Chandigarh stretch NH-1), which has already missed its 2012 deadline.
In his letter, Yadav said while travelling on these two national highways, he has observed that the work, including construction of overbridges, has either come to a halt or is moving at a very slow pace. "These two highways are always flooded with high speed traffic. The delay in completing the work has resulted in frequent traffic jams and inconvenience to highway users," reads the letter.
Yadav urged the Union minister to look into the matter and direct the authorities concerned to expedite the balance work.
The development comes close on the heels of the NHAI and the Pink City Expressway Private Limited being pulled up by the Gurgaon administration and asking them to complete the work in a time-bound manner during his review meeting recently. on the progress work of the six-laning of the national highway 8 between Kherki Dhaula and Kotputli in Rajasthan
.This was while Gurgaon deputy commissioner P C Meena was reviewing the work and expressed concern over the tardy pace and directed the authorities to conduct a survey of the left out pockets of land required for the project, meticulously within a week.
