GURGAON: A 25-year-old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 20-year-old college student two months ago. The girl, a resident of a village near Pataudi, is pregnant and is now admitted to Civil Hospital in Gurgaon. A second-year BA student, the girl`s father told police, was abducted in a car, drugged and raped by the arrested man and his friend and then dumped at a private hospital in Rewari.
Police identified the prime suspect as Himanshu, a resident of Inchapuri village. His friend, Krishan Kumar whose car was allegedly used in the crime, is at large. Himanshu, police said, called the girl`s family and informed them she was at the Rewari hospital.
But the family did not report the crime to the police because the girl was scared and in a state of trauma, a police officer said. A case was registered against the duo under sections 363 (kidnapping) 366 (abduction) 376(g) (gang rape) and 328 (causing hurt by poison) of the Indian Penal Code at Pataudi police station. On March 31, the girl fell ill and was taken to a private hospital in Haily Mandi, where tests confirmed she was pregnant.
