A Class X student of Koloriang Higher Secondary School committed suicide by jumping into the Kurung River in Kurung Kumey district of Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday. Dhiraj Jaiswal left his school bag on a rock on the river bank taking the fatal plunge, official sources said here on Thursday. Though police have launched a search operation, there is no trace of the boy so far. The motive behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained. A case of unnatural death has been registered, a source said.
Trafficked girl rescued: A 15-year-old Gorkha girl, trafficked to Haryana, was rescued and brought back to Aizawl on Thursday along with six suspected human traffickers. The girl, who hails from Durtlang, about 8 km north of Aizawl, was rescued by a Mizoram Police team led by LT Puii Pulamte, the SDO of Aizawl North Police sub-division, from Panthiwas village in Rewari district of Haryana on September 12. The six accused were brought to New Delhi from Haryana on Wednesday under armed escort. From there, they were brought to Aizawl by Mizoram Police. They will be produced in a local court.
