ROHTAK: A 30-year-old married woman of Dulhera Khurd village of Rewari district was raped then burnt to death on Tuesday night.
According to reports, the woman was asleep when the accused barged into the house and committed the crime. Her husband was reportedly not at home at the time. Cops said the accused, Narpal Singh, was arrested and investigation was on. They said the man set the woman afire by pouring kerosene on her when she tried to raise the alarm.
Rewari SP Vikas Kumar Arora told TOI that the rapist has been booked under sections 302 (murder) and 376 (rape). Police had earlier registered a case of abetment to suicide under Section 306 of IPC.Victim's husband Zile Singh said he was away to a marriage party, "the accused escaped though some neighbours tried to catch him".
