GURGAON: In a bid to push the infrastructure augmentation in Dharuhera, which is emerging as a residential hub next to Gurgaon on NH-8, the Haryana government approved two major projects - canal-based water supply and sewerage management - for the town. The two mega projects will cost about Rs 86.02 crore to the state government.
Officials said while the canal-based water supply project involves an investment of Rs 67.85 crore, the sewerage system project will cost Rs 18.17 crore.
Haryana power minister and Rewari MLA Ajay Singh Yadav said after the implementation of the two schemes, water supply per person could increase to more than 135 litres per day. Yadav said there is also a provision to construct three boosting stations in the various colonies of Dharuhera.
The government has already sanctioned Rs 16.89 crore for acquisition of land and work would begin soon.
Yadav said the sewage treatment plant of 6 million litres per day (MLD) capacity, to be set up over an area of four acres land for different colonies of Dharuhera, has been approved by the government and Rs 1.5 crore already sanctioned for land acquisition, and that the work would start soon.
Dharuhera is a census town in Rewari district and falls under the NCR. The Dharuhera Industrial Estate located on both sides of NH-8 is close to IMT Manesar, Bhiwadi, Khuskhera, Chopanki, Tapukra, Rewari, Bawal, Neemrana and a part of upcoming Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). The region has many large manufacturing plants such as Honda, Hero Honda, Maruti Suzuki, Minda Industries, Amtek Auto, Delphi, Sona Koyo Steering and RICO Auto.
Dharuhera, which is just 25-minutes drive from Gurgaon, has become the new hotspot for real estate development. The town is likely to grow rapidly considering the upcoming Kundli-Manesar-Palwal expressway.
